Moral: It is imprudent to join interests with those who can impose their own conditions upon us.
One winter, a Hedgehog, nearly frozen with cold, persuaded a Snake to let him share her cell. However, once inside, the Hedgehog’s prickles made the Snake uncomfortable. The Snake asked the Hedgehog to leave, saying the space was too small for both of them.
“Nay,” said the Hedgehog, “those who are uncomfortable can leave. I am content where I am; if you are not, feel free to go.”
